Three-goal flurry sees Portland down Philadelphia
Fanendo Adi scored the third of three goals to start the second half to lift Portland to a 2–1 win over Philadelphia on Sep. 10.
After a first 45 minutes with no action, Diego Valeri got the scoring rolling in the first minute after the break. Philadelphia’s Chris Pontius responded a minute later with a goal to draw things level. But Adi’s 53rd minute goal put the visitors up for good.
The Union’s comeback efforts were dampened by Ken Tribbett getting sent off for a second yellow in the 85th minute.
